I admit it: I'm a total geek. I love electronics, programming, 3D printing, 3D art, and vintage Apple hardware. I'm always juggling half a dozen projects. I also enjoy documenting it all: my successes, my failures, my experiences... and everything geeky along the way.

I’ve had the GIS Biosuit for a long time, I’ve just never gotten around to using it. It wasn’t until now that I realized it doesn’t work with the Iray render engine. Read More...

Creation

We’ve all seen Michelangelo’s famous “The Creation of Adam” fresco that is part of the Sistine Chapel's ceiling. It’s such a famous and iconic painting, that I wanted to do my own rendition. With a touch of sci-fi and fantasy, I think my modern-day rendition came out fantastic! Read More...

The Raven

I’ve been working with a new render engine called Iray. Same DAZ 3D software, but instead of using 3Delight to render it out, I’m using Iray. It uses a physics-based light engine. So the lights and shadows are supposed have a lot more realism to them. It’s pretty tricky stuff, but I think I’m getting the hang of it. My last render came out pretty good, but I wanted to play around some more and see if I could come up with some softer shadows.

Art Studio

I envisioned an art studio render a long time ago. I wanted to create a piece that featured a model being painted, and that you could see her being painted on canvas. Very rarely do I nail a render I sat down to create. I usually start with an idea, and then go off on a tangent and create something totally different. I think it came out amazing. I'm really liking the new Iray render engine and can't wait to see what else I can do with it. Read More...

It's been a long time since I've done a full-on render chock full of goodies. The last one was probably Pirates! I love doing these types of renders that have just a ton of stuff to look at. Read More...

Victoria 7 Pro Bundle

It's been almost two years, but DAZ finally uprevved Victoria. Victoria 7 is an all-new Genesis 3 character and she's "even more life-like than ever before." Gen 3 characters have increased detail in the fingers, toes, neck, mouth and chest. Also, rigging has been reworked to enhanced posing ability as well as 60 more points of articulation in the face Read More...

A Portrait In White

I started this render months ago, but I just couldn't decide on the direction. I liked the pose, but just couldn't nail the background. I ended up shelving it for several months. One day while looking at it again, I thought about doing something totally different. Read More...
