I admit it: I'm a total geek. I love electronics, programming, 3D printing, 3D art, and vintage Apple hardware. I'm always juggling half a dozen projects. I also enjoy documenting it all: my successes, my failures, my experiences... and everything geeky along the way.

Geek Extraordinaire. Yeh, I said it.

They're Coming With Me

I’ve had the GIS Biosuit for a long time, I’ve just never gotten around to using it. It wasn’t until now that I realized it doesn’t work with the Iray render engine.

GIS 2

I flipped back to 3Delight and it worked. Go figure. I guess this’ll be a 3Delight render. Maybe I can also render it in Iray and overlay the two images?

GIS 3 3Delight

I dropped in some cool sci-fi props into the background and started to play around with the lights.

GIS 4 3Delight

I want it to be a mostly dark lit scene so that I can go nuts with some sci-fi lights and effects.

GIS 9

I dropped a few Michaels into the cryotubes.

I then adjusted the depth of field by pulling in the focus on Victoria.

Cool, but I’m already spoiled by the added realism that the Iray render engine provides. She doesn’t look real enough.

GIS 17

I decided to run a few Iray renders. I know shrinking this 2560x1440 image down to 620x348 doesn’t do it justice, but what a difference Iray can make!

I then blended the layers until I was happy with the skin texture. The difference is subtle, but I think it’s enough.

I then scattered dust and debris in the background.

Followed by some lens flare, bokeh, and lights.
