I admit it: I'm a total geek. I love electronics, programming, 3D printing, 3D art, and vintage Apple hardware. I'm always juggling half a dozen projects. I also enjoy documenting it all: my successes, my failures, my experiences... and everything geeky along the way.

Geek Extraordinaire. Yeh, I said it.

Walking the Garden

I picked up this really sweet Capricornia outfit not too long ago. I’ve been dying to try it out. I started off the scene with Victoria 6 and applied one of my favorites, Domina.

Very nice.

Walking the Garden 3

The scene started off rather simple. I just haphazardly threw some buildings in the background with some trees and grass.

Walking the Garden 4

I wanted the background to be really out of focus, but not enough to make your eyes water. I adjusted the depth-of-field on the camera, added some lights, went crazy with the flowers, and gave it a test render.

Not bad, but it needs more sunset!

I got to it with the lights and ran another render.

OK, now we’re getting somewhere! It just needs some highlights.

That’ll do it. I took it into Pixelmator and added some bokeh and lens fare. I know it doesn’t look like much at this size, but the full 2000-pixel tall render looks awesome!

Walking the Garden final

All in all, I probably did about 20 renders before I was happy with the lighting. I swear, if I wasn’t married, I’ve have these printed poster size and all over the house!
