Johnnie Walker Select Casks - Rye Cask Finish

I just picked up the newly released Johnnie Walker Select Casks - Rye Cask Finish. This Johnnie Walker is bottled at a hefty 46%. Wth the exception of JW Green, other Johnnie Walkers are bottled at 40%, so this should be pretty beefy. It’s only a 10-year, but it’s getting pretty good reviews. It’s a limited edition thing so it won't be around for long. I bought two bottles.

This is unlike any other Johnnie Walker I’ve had before. If you don’t like Bourbon, you will not like this, because that’s what it tastes like. I haven’t tried that much Bourbon, but from what I have tried, I can tell you that this isn’t a Johnnie Walker with a hint of Bourbon, it tastes like a mellowed-out Bourbon. I know that Bourbon and Rye are two different animals, but in my opinion, they must taste pretty similar because this Johnnie Walker tastes just like the handful of Bourbons that I’ve tried.

It’s pretty good nonetheless. You can tell it’s a 10 year though. It is a little rough around the edges, but not bad for $40 bucks. If I paid any more for it than that, I would have been pretty disappointed. (Especially since I bought two bottles.)
