Having enjoyed
Johnnie Walker Green so much, I didn't hesitate for a moment in picking up a bottle of Cragganmore when I saw it. After all, it's one of the 4 single malts that makes up Johnnie Walker's world-famous Green Label.
At $53 a bottle, I'm sure it's no swill either.
I really like the packaging on this bottle, but I do have to say that the yellow label doesn't make a good match. It should be white like the box.
From Master of Malt:
Nose: Aromatic, floral. Heather, fruit salad, creamy texture. Smoked almonds, stemmy hay.
Palate: Rich, honey, stone fruits, chestnuts, walnuts, almonds. Berries.
Finish: Smoky, good length, delicate peppery spice.
I agree with the nose in the sense that it is a little grassy, with a slight sweetness, but the taste is a little different to me. I picked up a light woody character with a hint of smoke, lemons, and orange peel. Overall, it's very smooth, but not much of an aftertaste. It's unmistakably Speyside. Not bad for the money, but probably not a second buy. Don't get me wrong, it's pretty good, just no wow factor.
