I admit it: I'm a total geek. I love electronics, programming, 3D printing, 3D art, vintage Apple hardware, and whisky. I'm always juggling half a dozen projects. I also enjoy documenting it all: my successes, my failures, my experiences... and everything geeky along the way.

Highland Park Full Volume

I was so excited to get my hands on a bottle of Highland Park Full Volume. When I saw it announced, I just had to cross my fingers that someone around here would stock it. Total Wine to the rescue. They always get the coolest stuff.

Bottled at 47.2%, this is some really string stuff. It's full volume alright! (Not as high as the Ice Edition at 53.9, but pretty high overall for their standard bottlings.)

The image of a full-stack on the box is really cool.

From Highland Park:

FULL VOLUME was created using 100% ex-bourbon casks rather than our traditional sherry-seasoned ones. During 1999, a combination of 481 casks – 200 litre barrels and 250 litre hogsheads – were filled at strengths of between 63.6% and 63.7%. The whisky was filtered at just over 4C and delivers flavours of creamy vanilla and sweet citrus fruits from the bourbon casks, balanced by Highland Park’s characteristic aromatic smokiness.

It has an MSRP of $118. After all, it's an 18-year. I was so surprised to see that Total Wine was selling it for $80. Fantastic stuff.
