Speyburn 10-Year Single Malt

Whisky | Single Malt | HighlandI swung by the liquor store on the way home from work. My wife needed a bottle of vodka. I wasn’t even planning on buying anything for myself since I just dropped a little over $50 bucks the other day on a
12-year Macallan. I figured while I was there, I’d take a quick peek at the selection. I was about to pick up a bottle of Red just to keep one in the house when my eye caught the price on this Speyburn 10 year single malt. $29.99. Is that right? A single malt at blended pricing? I quickly hopped online for a review and was really surprised to see the rave reviews that this cheap whisky was receiving.
I figured I’d give it a shot. Worst case scenario, it’ll be an “in between” whisky.
It’s very soft in color.
The reviews online talk about orange peel, wood shavings, pine, spearmint leaves, and spice. It is very smooth, and very subtle. It’s very easy to drink.
It really is quite smooth going down, despite being bottled at 43%. For this price I expected to taste like something someone made in their basement, but it is rather pleasant and easy to drink.
