I admit it: I'm a total geek. I love electronics, programming, 3D printing, 3D art, and vintage Apple hardware. I'm always juggling half a dozen projects. I also enjoy documenting it all: my successes, my failures, my experiences... and everything geeky along the way.

Geek Extraordinaire. Yeh, I said it.

Born in the Abyss

I don't know where I'm going with this one, but I had an idea the other day to do a pose that looked like an embryo, but totally suspended in the air, or maybe just a totally black background.

I started to play with some skin colors. I like the way that the lights looked against a snow white texture.

I then went to the opposite extreme and tried black.

It's really cool how the lighting looks. I like the way that the lights looks. It's almost iridescent.

Straight up black texture with whit lights gives it sort of a marble or obsidian look.

I didn't' want to skin to appear shiny like polished stone, so I took the glossiness off. I then changed the lights so that they had just a hint of blue to them.

I then filled the background with black and gave the figure a slight blue glow.

I love how the character just blends right into the background. You really have to look closely to make it out. Some of the detail is lost when the image is shrunk down, but at 4000x4000, it looks really cool.
