I figured I’d take a break from the fantasy renders and try my hand at some Sci-Fi stuff. I haven’t really put the
Creature Creator for Genesis 2 Female through its paces. So this might be a good change to come up with some cool looking aliens.
I first started out with Victoria 6 and applied some Creature Creator alien head morphs. I gave her one of the skin textures and dropped the
GIS Sigma set into the background. As far as clothes, I really don’t have a lot of Sci-Fi stuff. I’m going to have to beef up my runtime for future renders. For now, I just gave her some black leathers to see if I could pull it off.
In the final render, she’s going to be accessing some kind up heads-up display, so I gave her a simple pose.
I really want a lot of focus on the HUD, so I pulled the camera in a bit and started dropping in some lights.
The skin texture really wasn’t working for me. I want her to be alien, but I want her to remain sort of cute and humanoid. With her pale skin,
Danika makes for a great vampire. I though she’s look great as an alien, so I applied the texture to Victoria.
Not bad.
I started playing around with the ambient light, as well as some spotlights, when I remembered the
Sci-Fi Bunny Suit that came with the Victoria 5 Bundle. It’s perfect. It’s sci-fi, with just the right amount of sexy.
I made even more tweaks to the lighting as well as added some depth-of-field to the camera.
I rotated the camera a bit and rendered it out. That’s looking pretty good!
Since she’s gogin to be accessing a heads-up display, I imagined there would be some light casting on her face and hand, so I dropped in a few point lights.
Just as a preliminary test, I pulled the render into Pixelmator and started throwing in some background imagery as well as some interface elements from
Rons Sci-Fi Optical Flares.
Not bad, but I want the HUD to be a little more elaborate, which means her hand is probably just a tad bit too high for what I want to do.
I jumped back into DAZStudio and moved her arm down and over just a bit. To make her a little bit cuter, I tweaked her ears just a bit using some Elf ear morphs. I also toned down the light on her face, since the HUD will now be that much further away.
I then went to town dropping in and arranging some interface elements.
I duplicated the layer, jammed up the brightness, and gave it a little blur in order to add a little bit of glow.
Now that’s starting to look like something!
I then added some flares, some bokeh, and a little splash of color to the light haze through the window.
For her face, there were some strange lines under her eyes that appeared after I added the Danika texture. I guess it didn’t play well with the eye morphs.
It was an easy fix. I just ‘shopped it out, along with the beauty mark.
And the final results. I’m really happy with the way that it came out.
Cropped to 2560x1440, it looks great on my desktop!
