I picked up the
Millennium Dragon 2 last August when the price dropped to that which I couldn't refuse. However, I don't think I've done a single render with a dragon yet. I had a lot of stuff in mind, but never got around to any of them. Here we are 9 months later, and DAZ just dropped the Dragon 3. And it's awesome!
The Pro bundle is usually $124.95, but you can get it for $62.23 with the Platinum Club debut pricing. Just like with the
Giselle debut, if you bought a few summer items early, they gave you 10% off when it finally came out. I spent $3 bucks on some cloths, and got the Dragon 3 Pro bundle for $54.56. Not bad.
This time around there was no mid-tier bundle. Just the base and the Pro bundle. But at $54.56 for the Pro bundle, there's a ton of stuff. It really is a great price for what you get.
The Pro bundle includes:
- DAZ Dragon 3 Base
- DAZ Dragon 3 Textures
- DAZ Dragon 3 Morphs
- DAZ Dragon 3 Fantasy Poses
- Cinematic Poses for DAZ Dragon 3
- Dragon Trainer's Toolbox
- Ridged Plate Armor for DAZ Dragon 3
- War Armor for the DAZ Dragon 3
- Strap Saddle for DAZ Dragon 3
- Armored Chain Saddle for DAZ Dragon 3
If that wasn't enough, they also put out a texture pack for the Ridged Plate Armor for free.
That's a sweet amount of content. Trust me, this time they're not going to go to waste.
So let's check it out.
Wow, looks pretty big!
How big? Very big. Check out how much bigger it is than the last generation dragon.
But to really put things into perspective, here it is next to Victoria 6. Now that's a dragon!
This thing could almost swallow you whole.
With the Dragon Trainer's Toolbox, you're just one click away from resizing it to 1x for a nice hatchling size. Cute.
You can also go all out with the 7x "god mode". That's insane! That's dinosaur sized!
The bundle also come with some morphs. You can add some weight, some muscle definition, or beef up the plates.
There's also a decent amount of head and body morphs. Not to sound too cliché, but you're really only limited by you imagination. There's an infinite number of dragon combinations you can make.
You can even ditch the wings entirely and make some pretty dangerous looking lizards/dinosaurs/monsters.
As far as poses, there's no shortage of those either. Flying poses. Laying poses. Attacking poses. You name it.
The Fantasy Poses are great for pairing the dragon with a human counterpart. They are made for Gia and Gianna, but with a little tweaking, they work fine with Victoria and Michael.
Textures. Dragons need textures. Again, no shortages there. There's black, green, red, gold, silver, and a few variations on the red, green, and gold. I would liked to have seen a blue texture. If the time comes, I might have to just make my own.
Let's check out the wearables. First up is the War Armor. It’s sort of a no-frills armor set. Nothing fancy.
The Plate Armor. This looks pretty sweet.
These are the Plate Armor textures that DAZ gave away for free. These would normally set you back another $10.95 without a Platinum Club discount. Free assets are always good.
I figured I’d throw together a quickk render with Michael 6.
Finally, the Armored Saddle. This one is pretty cool too. I really like the chains. They’re posable too, so you can have your rider grab them.
Between the morphs, the textures, the armor, and the poses, you can come up with some really amazing renders. These aren’t masterpieces, just a few that I threw together for the post to try things out. I'm not disappointed.
