I liked the Wisps in Pixar’s Brave and wanted to do something like that. I’d never heard of them before and though that Pixar made them up. It wasn’t until I Googled it that I found out that Wisps have been sighted in swamps, bogs, and marshlands for hundreds of years.
I already picked up the
Tennia outfit, but hadn’t put it to use yet. I think it’ll look great in this scene.
This scene is definitely going to need a forest, so I picked up the
Forest. It has a ton of detail. There’s ever a stream running though it. It’s an amazing set. There’s also a bunch of add-ons available for more detail; as well as textures for the seasons.
The Forest is huge! Huge! Just to give you a sense of scale, that item selected in the middle is Victoria. You can’t ever see her!
I also made use of the
Lune Portail (Moon Portal) that was a DAZ freebie last month. I think it does a good job of giving the scene an old Celtic feel.
I sat Victoria in front of the portal and posed her.
I then added a point light above her hand where one of the Wisps will go.
This is a test render with just a few lights. No UberEnvironemnt. I turned the quality down so that it would render quickly. So details are pretty low.
Happy with the results, I added the UberEnvironemnt lights and set it to dusk. I also dropped in 3 more point lights with a slightly-blue haze and turned the samples to max. I rendered it at 2307x3000. It took a little over 9 hours to render.
There’s some serious detail in there now.
Using Pixelmator, I played around with some brushes until I was happy with my rendition of a Wisp.
I wasn’t that happy with the hair, so I changed it to the
Pen hair and re-rendered it. I changed the background to black and created 3 more Wisps.
Pretty cool. I know shrinking it down to 620x806 doesn’t do the image justice, but it looks very cool. There’s a ton of detail in the full version and I’m pretty happy with the way it came out.
