Rain

Monique 6This is another render that’s been on the back burning for 3 months. I just couldn’t get the lighting right. That, and I’ve been so busy with other projects. With a little spare time on my hands, I figured I’d go back and wrap it up.
I started out with Victoria somewhat praying for rain. I gave her some gloss and shine, but it just didn’t look right. She looks more like a glazed donut. Maybe you can’t tell in this small image, but it’s apparent in the full size render.

I didn’t like the look of it, so I decided to mix things up. I haven’t done enough Monique renders, so I swapped out Victoria and added some grass props and a background.

I adjusted the depth of field and gave it a test render.

Not bad. I like the earthy-desert feel that it has. I wanted a lot of browns in this render.

It needed more sun light coming from behind. I also changed her facial expression. It just seems more heartfelt to have her pray with their eyes closed.

I added more grass, dropped some trees into the background, and did a whole bunch of renders until I was happy with the lighting.

Not bad.

I then gave it a ton of post work.
