DAZ has been giving away some freebies throughout the Summer. I managed to score a few free food packs and some table wear. I figured a nice dinner scene would be a good excuse to use up some of the food items.
I started with the
Country Dining Room.
I then hid some of the walls so that I could see inside.
I dropped in 6 characters and dressed them.
I then gave them some random sitting poses just to start things off.
I then sat them at the chairs and moved things around so that everyone was in position. The table and chairs were actually really large for some reason. There was no way their feet were going to touch the ground without scaling everything down.
I then gave it a test render to see how it looked.
I then went nuts adding props. Plates, food, wine, cutlery, napkins, etc.
I tweaked my camera angle and gave it a test render.
I thought it would be funny to put a dog under the table, but I didn’t have a dog. I dropped in a
Big Cat 2 instead.
I then scaled it down and hid the tail so it looked like a dg with those little stubby tails. You’ll never know the difference. It looks like a dog.
I then added a ton of props around the dining room.
Vases, glasses, pottery, plants, music boxes, tables, buckets, frames, clocks, baskets, etc.
Once I had all the items in that I wanted, I moved them around a bit until I was happy with the layout.
For the background, I dropped in a few houses, trees, plants, fences, and cars.
I then added some point and spot lights and gave it another render.
Lookin’ good.
I didn’t like how the table cloth cut through Michael’s legs.
I added some deformers and moved things around.
I played with the lights outside a bit more so that it looked like it was late at night. I then gave it a final render and added a vignette in post.
It’s a simple scene, but I think it came out pretty cool.
