Aberfeldy 12-Year

Whisky | Single Malt | HighlandAnother fantastic whisky compliments of my parents. At $38.99, it's a little cheaper than
The Glenrothes, but it's no swill.
It's great getting new whiskies that you've never tired, or would otherwise never think to try. Take this Aberfeldy 12 for example. I've never heard of them. I've been to Total Wine dozens of times and I don't think I've ever noticed it. My past experiences with whiskies in the
sub-$40 category have been (as you'd imagine)
underwhelming. So, I was really surprised after trying it to discover how cheap it is.
I really like the old school black and gold packaging. It looks like something from the late 1800s, early 1900s. Very classic.
Pretty tasty stuff. It's got a little heat on it, with a slightly bitter finish, but not totally off-putting. Definitely let it open up a bit. A whole slew of aromas develop after just a few minutes in the glass. The slight harshness it has at first disappears and some really nice sweet fruity notes develop.
It's a pretty good bottle. Not bad at all for the under-$40 price point.
