I admit it: I'm a total geek. I love electronics, programming, 3D printing, 3D art, and vintage Apple hardware. I'm always juggling half a dozen projects. I also enjoy documenting it all: my successes, my failures, my experiences... and everything geeky along the way.

Geek Extraordinaire. Yeh, I said it.

4X LEGO Minifig

I found this LEGO Minifig on Thingiverse and I just had to print one. It's a pretty perfect looking rendition of a Minifig. A lot of effort went into making it match the real thing. This model, however, is scaled up 4X.

I started out with printing the red parts. It was only fitting that I print it in yellow, red, and blue to match the colors of the original minifigs from the 1978 Town sets.

The support material came out nicely and they really didn't need much cleanup work at all.

Next up were the blue parts.

Better than the red. They didn't need any cleanup at all. It was a little tricky installing the arm pins, but the help of a pair of needle-nose pliers did the trick.

Lastly, the yellow.

All I had to do was break away the bottom supports from the head and it was good to go.

Just for fun, I also printed a cap.

With the exception of the hands, it snapped together perfectly. The hands were just a tad too big. I went back and printed another pair and scaled them down to .97 and they fit perfectly.

My kids love it, but too bad it's a prop for MY desk!
