Rocinante Name Plate from The Expanse

Laser CuttingA friend of mine wanted to make a Rocinante name plate from the TV show The Expanse. I told him if he shot me an SVG for it, I'd be more than happy to laser cut it out of wood.
He got to work on designing it in SketchUp and sent me the SVG for it.
I'll cut it out of three layers of 1/8" Draftboard. The discarded pieces will be used as alignment jigs to glue all the letters into place.
I took the SVG files into Inkscape and made all the various cuts a different color so that I could arrange the cut order on the Glowforge.
The two bottom layers only had four holes in the corners so they took about two minutes to cut. The top layer with all the lettering took 16 minutes.
That looks awesome. It came out perfect. It measures 14" x 10.25".
I then gave the parts to my friend who promptly glued all the letters into place. It's looking really good.
He then gave it a glossy top coat.
Then brushed on some graphite for a sweet metallic look.
All that remained was to install the resin-printed bolts and give it a black wash. That came out awesome.
