I admit it: I'm a total geek. I love electronics, programming, 3D printing, 3D art, and vintage Apple hardware. I'm always juggling half a dozen projects. I also enjoy documenting it all: my successes, my failures, my experiences... and everything geeky along the way.

New 4x4 and 5x5 Speed Cubes

I picked up a new 4x4 speed cube. I wasn't really happy with my last purchase. I picked it up on a whim since my 10 year old wanted a 2x2 and a 3x3. It was on sale, so I figured I'd throw it in my order just for kicks. The corner cutting is terrible, and it locks up like crazy.

I needed a better cube. I picked up a MoYu AoSu 4x4 for $19.99. I watched a ton of reviews on YouTube and the consensus is that it's possibly the best 4x4 you can buy.

At 62mm x 62mm x 62mm, it is noticeably smaller to the KungFu JuQue 4x4. The KungFu JuQue 4x4 was supposed to be 62mm x 62mm x 62mm; I was surprised to see that it was 65mm x 65mm x 65mm when I got it. It's massive, and really feels clunky.

It doesn't sound like much, but 3mm makes a huge difference.

I figured while I was at it, I'd splurge and pick up a 5x5 too. It's only a matter of time, right? I did my homework and concluded that the QiYi WuShuang 5x5 for $18.99 was the way to go.

It's a really sweet cube. It's really smooth, easy to turn, and feels great.

At 62mm x 62mm x 62mm, it's amazing that a 5x5 is the same size as a 4x4.

Take it from me. Don't start off with a cheap junky cube. Spend the money up front and start off with a great cube.
