I admit it: I'm a total geek. I love electronics, programming, 3D printing, 3D art, and vintage Apple hardware. I'm always juggling half a dozen projects. I also enjoy documenting it all: my successes, my failures, my experiences... and everything geeky along the way.

Geek Extraordinaire. Yeh, I said it.

Seiko SARX055

I just got an Omega Speedmaster for Christmas, and here I am not even a month later with another expensive watch. Hey, it's not my fault that our wedding anniversary is so close to Christmas! My wife asked me what I wanted. I felt bad asking for another watch, but after all, the gift for 15 years is a watch. Lucky me. She agreed to the next watch on my wishlist: the Seiko SARX055.

I fell in love with this watch the first time I saw it. I just couldn't resist that textured dial and blue seconds hand. It's 40mm and comes in a titanium case. Awesome. They say it's the baby Grand Seiko.

You can even tell from the box that it's on the high-end. It's much better looking than the one you get with cheaper Seikos.

Ooohhh! Very nice. It's also the first watch that has come with a signed and dated Seiko warranty card from the dealer. Pretty cool.

Wow, just look at that. I know these tiny pictures do not do it justice.

The dial is amazing.

It has the 6R15D movement. It's basically the same movement as my SARB033. It's crazy that it's almost three times the price. That's the cost of a larger case, better dial, hands, and being made out of titanium. At this price point, it would have been nice seeing a little decoration on the movement.

Just WOW! I can't stop looking at it.

It fits beautifully. Being titanium, it is incredibly light and comfortable. I was nervous about it being 40mm, but I think it wears amazingly well.

This is one incredible watch, and it definitely scratches that Grand Seiko itch for sure.
